The Importance of a Well-Planned Wardrobe

While clothes don’t define a man, they certainly help build character. Which is why it’s absolutely essential for any self-aware man to have a wardrobe that he can be proud of.

Now, by that we by no means are implying that you immediately spend thousands of dollars on a few hundred expensive, over-the-top clothing items to fill your closet to the brim, no!

Take your time and slowly but surely build your wardrobe with one or two choice pieces every month or however frequent you can afford until you have yourselves a versatile and classy cupboard filled with clothes and accessories.

After all, Rome wasn’t exactly built in a day, was it?

So why rush things when you can accomplish the same objective in a more relaxed, precise manner over time?

A wardrobe overhaul isn’t something to be taken lightly. It’s not a revamp of the same style, but rather an evolvement of a different mindset. You cannot expect to become a sophisticated style icon in a matter of days, unless, of course, you have that kind of money to spare. Which, let’s face it, not everybody does. In the case of a refined wardrobe, less is definitely more. So try and avoid the unchecked fashion frenzy and shop at a stable pace.

Here are a few reasons why it’s important to plan and carefully construct your wardrobe:

  • A classy look always win
An urbane and cultured look is only acquired if your wardrobe consists of timeless pieces. Frivolous fashion crazy clothing lasts only as long as it takes for the new collection to come out.
  • Less is more

Reiterating our previous point, the classic style, though inexpensive, lasts a lifetime. Fashion continually changes and the latest fad of today becomes the obsolete choices of yesterday real quick.

  • The perfect fit
Clothes that fit perfectly are extremely hard to find in stores. Most boutiques cater to the average man, but it’s rare that the cut and fitting matches just right, hence the need for tailors. They can nip and tuck your shirts and pants to your exact measurements, and that my friends is a process which takes time.
  • Quality beats quantity
Capsule wardrobes only create the illusion of a structured closet. In reality, the focus remains on the quantity of the clothing pieces per season rather than the quality of clothes that last and are functional all year long.
  • Good choices = no regrets
The process of building the right wardrobe is one that’s riddled with ups and downs. Think of it as a long journey of trials and errors. Finding the right articles of clothing, which fit right, look right and cost right is a tedious task. But it’s made easier when it’s a one-piece-at-a-time task. There will be hits and there will be misses; you just have to be careful and patient.

There are lots of other reasons, but those are a few we think we'd highlight to stress why its important to take your time with how you dress yourself. A man’s wardrobe can quite possibly be a reflection of his personality, and with something as important as that, wouldn’t you want to go slow and develop a style that represents the real you? So linger a bit, and proceed cautiously when it comes to your attire. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

    Happy Building!
